Each time a page on your Internet site does not load, an error message shall be shown to the website visitor. As there are different errors, there are different pages that will show up, but what's standard for all of them is that they're generic and most likely will have nothing that resembles the layout of your Internet site, which may be annoying for any site visitor. That is the primary reason why web hosting companies have introduced a feature named Custom Error Pages. For a variety of different errors, visitors will see your custom made content, which may be informative or witty, depending on your choice, and that will match the overall layout of your website, so the pages shall not appear as if they are not part of your Internet site at all. You can use this option for a number of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Cloud Hosting

You will be able to set up custom error pages for each of your sites easily when you use any of our cloud hosting. This can easily be done from the Hosted Domains part of the Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with all accounts and when you go there, you can set your custom made pages independently for any domain or subdomain. You must upload the files to your account before you start and enter the links to them during the process. This feature can be de-activated whenever you want and the options you will be able to pick from are a standard page from our system or a default Apache server page. Customized error pages may be set with an .htaccess file too. The file should be put into the domain or subdomain folder and it should incorporate some system code and links to the pages. If you are not tech-savvy, you may copy the whole content necessary for the file from our Help section.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers

All our semi-dedicated servers support customized error pages, so you will be able to use this function for any domain or subdomain hosted in your account. All it takes to do this is to visit the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP, to click on the Edit button linked to the given domain/subdomain and to type in the link to the custom-made file. You'll be able to do this independently for each and every error type. You shall be able to switch back to a default error page anytime if required and the change will take effect immediately. A different way to get the same exact result is to set an .htaccess file inside the domain or subdomain folder of the website that you want to change and to type in a couple of lines of code in it. If you'd like to try this method, you could copy and paste the required code from our Knowledge Base article on custom error pages, hence you'll not need any coding skills or prior experience.
